Why a Duck?

So, for the past week or so, the amount of dreams I have had involving the Marx Brothers has been steadily increasing. I can only take that as an omen for the upcoming Centre production of The Cocoanuts which…well…one thing I know for sure is that the kids involved have been working HARD on it.

I like the Marx Brothers fine and well, though most of my knowledge of them…much like Apocalypse Now and Citizen Kane…has come from cartoons making parodies of them. I remember one episode of Tiny Toon Adventures where the students had to study comedians of the past, and so they did this Marx Brothers bit where I *think* Buster was Chico and Hampton was Zeppo. My memory is a little fuzzy on that one, but I know for sure that Babs was Groucho and Go-go Dodo was Harpo. Ah, Harpo, he’s always been my favorite Marx Brother, you know.

DON’T DISAPPOINT ME COLIN!!!! No pressure or anything.

  5. I liked them all (what I saw of them), but I always thought Harpo was funniest. Like you I saw more of them parodied in cartoons (like Bugs Bunny as Groucho, etc.) I liked Zeppo too, and it does not surprise me he’s the one I got on the quiz!

    Oh, and any Wertle art is good art! *love to see what you come up with!*

    Quick witted, funny, but a little on the self
    centered side. You are probably the greatest
    person you know, even if no one else thinks so.

    the opposite sex that even the people who are
    attracted to you can’t explain.

  8. Chalk one up for Groucho

    My sense of humour tends to lean toward puns and quips, so my favourite would have to be Groucho — though it’s close between him and Chico. The way those two can banter back and forth is hillarious!

    Do yourself a favour and rent one of their movies. I’d suggest A Night at the Opera or Duck Soup.

    Oddly enough, the quiz says I’m Zeppo…
